The Re-Imagine Closing Conference: Knowledge, Impact, Future was successfully held online in September 2025, marking the formal conclusion of the two-year international project Re-Imagine Green Art Practices on the Margin, supported by the European Union’s Creative Europe programme.
The conference brought together artists, researchers, cultural professionals, and policy stakeholders from across Europe to reflect on the project’s outcomes and to exchange knowledge on sustainable practices in the performing arts. Conceived as both a dissemination and evaluation event, the conference presented the results of the Re-Imagine residency programme, educational materials, and collaborative research developed throughout the project.
Over two days, participants engaged in keynotes, roundtables, artist talks, and interactive sessions addressing topics such as climate justice, artistic freedom, ecological responsibility, green production models, and sustainability in cultural policy. A central moment of the programme was the public launch and presentation of the Green Art Practices on the Margin Toolkit, a practical guide developed through theoretical research and hands-on experimentation within the project’s residencies.

The programme featured contributions from leading experts, artists, and cultural practitioners working at the intersection of sustainability and the arts. Discussions highlighted the importance of context-based approaches, knowledge from peripheral and under-resourced regions, and the role of independent cultural operators in advancing ecological transitions.
Audience feedback collected through a post-conference survey confirmed the event’s strong relevance and impact. Participants emphasized the value of combining artistic practice, research, and policy perspectives, as well as the importance of international collaboration and shared learning. The conference was widely described as an inspiring and well-curated conclusion to the Re-Imagine project, providing both reflection and momentum for future initiatives.
By closing the project with an open and inclusive forum for dialogue, the Re-Imagine Closing Conference reaffirmed the project’s core message: that the performing arts can play a vital role in shaping ecological awareness, strengthening professional capacities, and contributing to more sustainable and just cultural ecosystems- particularly from Europe’s margins.
